Job Overview :

Pharmaron is seeking an In Vivo Training Supervisor to lead and enhance training programs across our preclinical operations in San Diego. This role focuses on delivering hands-on technical training in animal procedures with multiple species (rodents, canines, swine, and rabbits). The Training Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform in vivo work safely, consistently, and to the highest standards of animal care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in animal handling and veterinary care to make a meaningful impact. In this role, you will partner closely with Human Resources and the Director of Preclinical Operations to build and deliver structured training programs that support both scientific excellence and the highest standards of animal welfare across our department.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate and oversee onboarding and training for all employees
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a structured training curriculum covering orientation, technical skills, and ongoing staff development.
  • Deliver hands-on training in animal handling, dosing, bleeding, necropsy, and related in vivo procedures across small and large animal species.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and conduct mandatory procedural training.
  • Facilitate "Train the Trainer" programs to strengthen internal training capacity.
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs, observe technical proficiencies, and provide coaching and remediation as needed.
  • Evaluate training outcomes and implement improvements to enhance effectiveness and consistency.
  • Maintain departmental training records and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal training requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, management, and scientific teams to support employee growth and departmental success.

What We're Looking For :

  • Bachelor's degree in a life sciences field or equivalent training / certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in training program design and delivery.
  • 3–5 years of direct in vivo animal research experience with both small and large species (rodents, canine, swine, rabbits).
  • Strong proficiency in dosing, bleeding, and necropsy techniques across species.
  • AAALAS certification or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to adapt training methods to diverse learners and evolving business needs.
