POSITION SUMMARY
Faculty, Fellows, and Residents from the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita’s Internal Medicine Department provide patient care through our clinics. We are dedicated to continuous quality improvement while providing high quality, efficient health care to patients. This position supports the GI Clinic providers and patients in the delivery of quality, patient-centered care within individuals’ scope of practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to calls and messages from patients, triaging and prioritizing requests for clinical advice, care plans, prescription refills, test results, prior authorizations, forms completion, and coordinating care with providers and other nursing team membersCollaborates with GI providers and fellows to schedule hospital follow up visits and proceduresRefills medications as authorized per protocol and as ordered by the provider(s)and obtains insurance authorizations as neededEnters and coordinates provider orders for medications, lab, imaging, DME, etc., monitors outstanding orders and follows-up to verify if completed and / or obtain resultsPerforms care-related tasks such as administration of immunizations and injections, phlebotomy, suture / staple removal, EKGs, wound care, x-rays (if certified), and assisting with in-office proceduresAdministers and records screening tests in development, hearing, and vision as orderedReviews and prepares charts for upcoming appointments including retrieval of pending test results, consult reports, external documents, and identifying preventive services that are dueProvides and documents chronic care management services and population health management activities as assignedAssists providers during exams and procedures as neededProvides cross coverage on the floor as neededProvides patient education to patients and / or their caregiversAssists with clean up in the team room at end of day; secures PHI, locks all necessary cabinets; checks refrigerator temperatures; counts narcotics / controlled substances (if applicable)Participates in clinic process improvement activities and team meetings to ensure efficient operationsReliable attendance and punctualityPerforming other duties as assignedPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Certificates & Licenses :
Kansas licensed RN or LPNIV certification is a plusEducation : Associate’s degree (two-year college or technical school)
Experience :
Minimum two (2) years nursing experience requiredEHR experience preferred (we use eClinicalWorks)Microsoft Office experience a plus
