Building Services Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Building Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and orderly environment across operational buildings at the Alpena Cement Plant. This role plays a critical part in supporting plant safety, efficiency and overall facility standards by performing cleaning and sanitation tasks in non-administrative areas of the site. The technician will service several key building including but not limited to the quarry, raw grind, kiln, electrical building, powerhouse, yard, finish grind and shipping areas.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform routine cleaning of plant facilities including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and pressure washing where appropriate.
  • Remove industrial dust, dirt and debris from work surfaces, floors, and high-traffic areas to maintain compliance with plant safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Empty and sanitize trash and recycling receptacles on a regular schedule.
  • Clean restrooms and break areas loacated within designated operational buildings.
  • Maintain safe and organized janirotial supply storage areas and notify supervisor when supplies need restocking.
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers as needed.
  • Report any observed maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all plant safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with other facilities-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education : High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Education Preferred : Associate's degree

Additional Requirements :

  • Work is primarily performed in industrial plant settings, including dusty, noisy, and high-temperature environments.
  • May involve exposure to cement dust, lubricants, grease and other industrial materials.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting (up to 45 lbs).
  • Prior industrial or facilities cleaning experience (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong commitment to safety and cleanliness.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices.
  • Full-time; shift schedule may vary depending upon plant operations.
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on plant needs.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
