Description :
The CT Scan Technologist performs computed tomography procedures and related techniques.
This role produces sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation.
Assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Performs complex CT procedures.
Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patients' clinical history for procedures.
Ensures information is documented and scanned properly.
Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients or family members.
Identifies and administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Reviews patient prescriptions to verify appropriateness of exams and communicates with necessary parties if there are discrepancies.
Responsible for confirming insurance authorized exam scripts and managing documentation for insurance re-verification.
Obtains outside studies and schedules them in the system.
Provides exam copies to patients and, upon request, to physicians or family members.
Evaluates radiographs using the PACS system to ensure they meet identification standards and are of diagnostic value.
Gathers relevant information from medical records and other health care providers to prepare for scanning and ensure patient safety.
Determines if patients have been appropriately prepared for their procedures.
Prepares patients for scanning including shielding and use of immobilization devices.
Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast to administer.
Provides explanations and instructions to patients that are clear and easy to understand.
Addresses and documents patients' questions and concerns during the procedure.
Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
Monitors patients for physical conditions during procedures to track any adverse reactions.
Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
Adheres to policies regarding employee ID, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
Identifies and meets the specific needs of the patient population served.
Communicates effectively with patients and caregivers at their level.
Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
