Medical Assistant - MA

Reports to : Practice Manager
Educational Requirements : High School Diploma, certification required.
Physical Demands : Requires full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand-eye coordination, color perception, and visual acuity.
Exposure : Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic substances, radiation, and other hazards common to a healthcare setting.
MA General Hours :
- Monday through Thursday 8 : 30AM-5 : 00PM
- Every other Friday
- Hours may need to change to best support the practice.
- Please note that due to physicians’ schedules, it may be necessary to adjust your schedule to come in early or stay late. This will be discussed in advance or as the situation arises.
Please note that due to our patient’s needs, medical assistants may be asked to fulfill more than one job description and are responsible for the duties and tasks listed on each description. Employees will be informed of any position they are expected to fill or cover.
Medical Assistant Duties :
Maintaining an attractive and comfortable environment for patients with special consideration to cleanliness, safety, ventilation, lighting, and supplies.Rooms are to be cleaned after each patient and logged on provided sheet showing that you completed the task.MA to communicate effectively with physicians and other office staff as well as with outside entitiesDisplay professionalism in all duties and treat patients and employees with courtesy and respect.Follow all policies as laid out in the Employee Manual.Complete all required compliance training.Ensure if a patient is hearing impaired or speaks another language that an interpreter is set up.Phone patients with physician recommendations, procedure results, messages, etc. while following all HIPAA guidelines.Refill prescriptions.Completing assistance forms and contacting patients when medication arrivesDocuments all pertinent information in the patient chart / EMR in a timely and effective manner while following all HIPAA regulations concerning fraud and abuseTriage patients, which includes recording vitals, immunizations, medications, family and social history, past medical and surgical, problem list and the patients last TB shot and eye exam. And placing them in exam rooms for physiciansMedical Assistant escorts patients to any additional services needed throughout the officeTraining other employees to perform assigned duties as neededKeep all rooms and educational material stocked.Be available to the physician as soon as they come out of the exam room.Assists patients and families regarding medications and treatmentsParticipates in daily huddles and monthly meetingsOrdering of suppliesEveryone works together as a team to ensure all patients' needs are addressed.Recording when samples arrive and when patients are given samples. Checking for expiration monthly.Give patient instructions on the samples given and ensure the patient has full understanding of how to take or administer the medication and have them sign.All other MA duties as assigned by the physicians or Practice Manager
