Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Dameron Hospital provides physical therapy interventions according to the established Plan of Care. The PTA assists in delivering high-quality therapeutic services to adult and geriatric patients, adhering to Title 22 regulations and all applicable federal, state, and local standards.
The PTA is responsible for implementing treatment plans, completing accurate documentation, and communicating patient progress to the supervising PT. This role also includes supporting departmental functions such as program development, quality improvement initiatives, and policy updates. The PTA provides direct patient care and supervision of Physical Therapy support staff (e.g., Rehab Aides), and must demonstrate responsibility, integrity, initiative, and professionalism at all times. This is a non-union position.
Position Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate of Science or Applied Science), approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
- Current and valid California Physical Therapist Assistant license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid drivers license and proof of automobile insurance (if applicable for job duties)
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in alignment with the patients Plan of CareAdminister treatment to alleviate pain, improve or restore function, and maintain maximum performanceAssist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, functional mobility, and use of assistive devicesApply physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and massageMonitor and report patients responses to treatment and any significant changes in condition to the supervising PT and relevant staffEducate patients in the use and care of mobility aids and prosthetic / orthotic devicesMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and progress notes in accordance with hospital policyParticipate in interdisciplinary care planning and team meetingsAttend in-service education sessions and contribute to quality improvement activitiesProvide oversight and guidance to Rehab Aides as appropriatePerform additional duties as assigned by Physical Therapy ManagementJob Details : 1 - FTE 1.0 (5x8s) Days
