Animal Control Technician
We are currently hiring an Animal Control Technician to be a part of the EH&S team for a long term contract in Newport News. This animal control program works with managing a feral cat population for rodent control, and the program includes trapping, spaying / neutering, and veterinary care for sick cats.
Manages animal control program responsibilities to ensure safety of workforce and compliance to applicable laws. Implements and monitors industrial safety programs to ensure personnel and facility safety. Participates in monitoring and controlling the organization's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State codes and regulations. Evaluates new equipment and materials for safety. Performs surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, regulations and standards related to employee safety. Tests and services safety equipment and systems. Reports non-compliance or hazardous conditions found and suggests remedial action to be taken. May maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personnel protection equipment.
Qualifications : US Citizenship, High School Diploma, Previous experience in animal control management. Previous experience working as a farmhand or with animals preferred. Capable of learning, retaining, and executing rudimentary tasks. Willing to follow chain of command.

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA. The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00 / hr.
