Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
Nature of Work
Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to support the enforcement oflocal revenue ordinances and ensure compliance with City business licensesales tax and other applicable regulations. The Revenue Enforcement Officer isan APOSTC-certified law enforcement professional who conducts fieldinspections investigations and enforcement activities related to unlicensedor non-compliant business operations outside of normal business hours. This is a part-time vacancy that requires independent judgment public contact and close coordinationwith other departments and agencies. This classification reports to the RevenueDepartment leadership and the Chief Financial Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
Highschool diploma or GED; college coursework in criminal justice publicadministration accounting or a related field is preferred. Currentcertification by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission(APOSTC) with two (2) years of prior experience in law enforcement taxenforcement or municipal regulatory compliance.
NOTE : Qualifyingeducation training and experience that provide the requisite knowledgeskills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Alabamadrivers license and an insurable driving record. Will be required to workflexible hours including evenings and weekends as operational needs require. Thisclassification operates under the authority and framework of the MontgomeryPolice Department (MPD) deriving its enforcement powers from the MPD standards.
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill a Part-time vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancyis with the City of Montgomery Finance Department .Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
