Energy Manager
The purpose of the Energy Manager position is to manage and support implementation of energy initiatives throughout a North American and international portfolio. The Energy Manager is responsible for interrogating the customers utility data, identifying opportunities, with focus on low cost / no cost programs, operational excellence, energy supply and supporting wider teams and stakeholders.
The role is hybrid, based in Salt Lake City and required to work from Client's office at least two days a week.
Energy Management
- Develop energy management strategy for Clients' real estate portfolio including operational policies and comfort policies per type of building.
- Ensures that global energy standards (e.g., ASHRAE) or Client specific guidance are applied throughout the managed properties.
- Implement programs to achieve savings goals and targets by specified timelines including low cost / no cost programs.
- Implement actions that save energy either at site level or at scale.
- Provide forecasts of utility expenses throughout the portfolio
- Manage energy benchmarking and assessments.
- Analyze energy and water consumption metrics to identify opportunities and create plans to sustain energy savings.
- Lead identification and prioritization of energy capital projects, operational changes and physical plant upgrades, resulting in reduced energy consumption (may include HVAC, lighting, building envelope, demand response and controls, plug loads, distributed generation, employee engagement, and evaluating new technologies and services).
- Establish / monitor utilities budgets.
- Develop and evaluate financial viability of projects for budgeting and approval.
- Report clear and concise metrics on various energy and sustainability activities (cost savings, CO2, water, etc.), and achievements on prescribed intervals as requested by Client.
- Support water saving programs and recycling programs as requested.
- Inform customer on changes in regulations and legislation that will impact the customer facilities, and put in place required mitigation strategy.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively organize responsibilities. Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Integration & Collaboration
- Communicate plans and progress to all levels of staff through presentations and meetings.
- Provide training, education, and engagement to key customer stakeholders, embedding a culture of sustainability throughout the organisation.
- Works with team members to further develop energy competencies.
Engages with wider CBRE teams to :
Ensure alignment of targets and priorities,Integrate delivery of programs, through OM visit and other IFM activitiesFeeds from OMs visits and intelligence to continually improve policies, strategies and programs.Engages with Energy Procurement if and when required, to :Coordinate meetings and communication between Client and CBRE's Energy Procurement Services (EPS) team,Coordinate data collection and ensure accurate site information is available to streamline energy sourcing activities,Work with stakeholders to implement energy procurement goals, timelines, and execution strategies,Support Client decision-making by aligning procurement activities with budget, contracting and sustainability goals,Track key milestones, flag risks, and ensure smooth implementation of new supply agreements.Engages with CBRE Platform Teams to ensure innovation is at the forefront of delivery, identifying solutions within :Strategic Blueprint, including energy and sustainability strategies, compliance, reporting and risk management solutions,Value at Scale, including renewable energy and supply chain solutions,Other innovative energy and sustainability solutions.Other duties as assigned.What You'll Need
Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. CEM and LEED accreditation, preferred.Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
