Associate Veterinarian

The Associate Veterinarian plays a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to canines and felines and exceptional customer service to pet owners. Working under the supervision of the lead veterinarian or practice owner, the Associate Veterinarian diagnoses, treats, and prevents a variety of animal illnesses and injuries, and works collaboratively with the veterinary team to ensure the well-being of all patients.

Key Responsibilities

Examine, diagnose, and treat a wide range of animal health conditions in companion animals (e.g., dogs, cats).

Prescribe medications, perform surgical procedures, and administer vaccinations as needed.

Interpret diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, radiographs, and ultrasounds to inform treatment plans.

Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and preventive health care.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.

Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other team members to provide comprehensive care.

Participate in the development and implementation of hospital protocols and policies.

Stay current on advances in veterinary medicine through continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Promote a positive image of the veterinary practice within the community.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution.

Current and valid veterinary license in the state of PA.

Strong diagnostic, surgical, and medical skills relevant to general practice.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and client education.
