Research Assistant

Position Purpose

This position is responsible, in collaboration with the Study Principal Investigators (PIs), for the coordination and management of all research activities as part of the research team at Renown Health.

This includes participation in study start-up, patient recruitment and enrollment (including but not limited to consenting and sample collections under current certifications and protocols), data collection, source documentation, quality assurance, regulatory submissions, and protocol dissemination to health care professionals, patients and family members, and study close-out for all assigned research studies.

The Research Assistant collects and submits study data and monitors study compliance. Further, this position requires the incumbent to function as an integral part of the research and care teams, working with colleagues to meet deadlines and the needs of patients, the specialty area, and the Research Office.

Nature and Scope

This position is challenged to maintain research protocols with an extremely high degree of accuracy. The incumbent must be highly organized and have good interpersonal skills to communicate with physicians and physician staff. This position prepares, submits, and monitors documentation of research studies while assuring compliance with regulations and protocols.

This position is responsible for guaranteeing a smooth flow through the outreach, consenting and specimen collection processes and resolution of participant questions or follow-up needs as assigned based on the study portfolio needs. The incumbent performs assigned clerical and technical duties as directed to ensure access to clinical research for all stakeholders including patients, investigators, and students. Duties, including but not limited to scheduling participants, consenting participants, escorting the patients from the waiting room to the examining room promptly, completing study assessments per guidelines and completes study visit data entry, and supports the implementation and maintenance of department projects under the direction of the area Supervisor or Director. Completes other work as required. The position requires strong decision-making, independent judgement, and analytical skills in order to apply federal and state regulations to a variety of situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and / or Preferred

Education

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience

One year of clinical, research, regulatory, and / or data management experience required. Previous experience with patient care and / or research protocols also preferred.

License(s)

Certification(s)

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Training required within 30 days of hire date.

Computer / Typing

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must possess abilities to navigate and document within medical record systems.
