Los Altos Golf & Country Club invites an accomplished and forward‑thinking financial strategist to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a rare opportunity for a visionary and collaborative leader to help guide one of Northern California’s premier private clubs into its next era of growth and innovation. The CFO will bring strategic foresight and a deep understanding of long‑range financial planning, helping to shape the Club’s future through robust capital reserve management and forward‑focused modeling.
This is an onsite, highly visible role within a vibrant, family‑oriented culture that values engagement, accessibility, and teamwork. Supported by a strong and capable Assistant Controller, the CFO will direct the overall financial vision while fostering excellence, accountability, and innovation across the department.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER – POSITION OVERVIEW
The CFO at Los Altos Golf & Country Club is a hands‑on, strategic partner to the GM / COO, the Board of Directors, and the Finance and Long‑Range Planning Committees. This role is central to the Club’s continued modernization and fiscal strength, leading financial oversight, capital planning, and strategic forecasting initiatives. With a strong foundation of operational excellence already in place, the CFO will focus on elevating financial strategy, enhancing analytical tools, and ensuring long‑term sustainability through data‑driven insights and transparent communication.
This individual will lead with a “trust but verify” approach—establishing calm structure, mentorship, and clear delegation while encouraging innovation and accountability. A gifted communicator, the CFO will translate complex financial data into actionable narratives that empower leadership decisions. They will proactively advance technology and automation within a nearly paperless environment, refining digital tools and dashboards to increase clarity, speed, and precision in reporting. The CFO will also play a critical role in supporting committee relations, strengthening cross‑department collaboration, and fostering a culture of transparency, responsiveness, and member service.

FINANCIAL STRATEGY & OVERSIGHT
- Formulate, recommend, and implement accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial control policies.
- Direct the preparation of financial statements, including income, balance sheet, and cash flow reports, supported by comprehensive schedules and analytics.
- Lead the creation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets in coordination with department heads and committees.
- Analyze budget variances, forecast performance, and recommend corrective measures to ensure alignment with goals.
- Maintain all accounting functions, including receivables, payables, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and evolving financial standards.
- Manage internal audits to ensure adherence to Club policies and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Safeguard Club assets through effective cash management, proper fund allocation, and investment oversight.
- Maintain complete and accurate fixed asset and depreciation records.
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP & RISK MANAGEMENT
Collaborate with the GM / COO and Facilities Director to ensure the Capital Reserve Study remains current and consistent with Board and Capital Improvement reports.Supervise member billing and collection processes, ensuring accuracy and responsiveness.Audit member and guest charges, verifying the accuracy of receipts and postings.Oversee banking relationships, ensuring optimal liquidity and cash management.Manage insurance coverage for property, liability, and other risk exposures to safeguard Club assets.Lead implementation of technology and accounting systems that enhance financial operations and reporting accuracy.Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance practices, and confidentiality standards.Monitor delinquent accounts, escalating unresolved issues to management and the Board, and recommend actions for resolution.Collaborate with external auditors to maintain transparency and consistency with Club policies.GOVERNANCE & BOARD PARTNERSHIP
Serve as the principal financial advisor to the Board of Directors, Finance, Long‑Range Planning, Insurance, and 401(k) Committees.Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights to inform Board‑level decisions.Lead the Club’s capital financing strategy, including sourcing and negotiating favorable loan terms to fund strategic initiatives.Evaluate and manage funding mechanisms for capital improvements, refinancing, and reserve planning.Develop financial reports and custom analyses for Board and committee presentations.Support long‑range financial planning, debt management, and investment policies.Maintain relationships with banking institutions and ensure favorable financial terms.Serve as strategic thought partner to GM / COO and Board on the fiscal implications of key business decisions.When requested, serve as Board Secretary, recording minutes for monthly meetings and ensuring accurate documentation of Board actions.PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff, promoting excellence and accountability.Foster cross‑departmental communication to ensure financial awareness and budget ownership across the organization.Advise department heads on financial matters, providing guidance that supports operational success.Promote a culture of professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across departments.Conduct performance reviews and establish clear performance metrics aligned with Club objectives.SUCCESS CRITERIA

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; M.B.A preferred.7–10 years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years at the Controller or equivalent level, preferably within the club, hospitality, or service industry.PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) designation recommended.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
