Independently plans, performs the moderately‑defined responsibility for designing, standardizing, implementing, verifying, validating, and commercializing Wi‑Fi‑WAN (or cellular) air interface and modem technologies, as a prototype, specification, product, or component within a product. The engineer has expertise in WWAN specifications and can design, optimize, and implement software for advanced wireless systems and modems. Working closely with other functional groups, the engineer develops a cost‑effective, high‑quality, and highly capable air interface and modem that meets industry and customer requirements with high performance (e.g., capacity, coverage, throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost (e.g., silicon area, calibration complexity, code size). Acts as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings.
