WHAT YOU WILL DO :
We are looking for a motivated Data Center Operations Technician to join our dynamic infrastructure engineering team. This role involves installing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage cabling systems, with an emphasis on racking and stacking equipment in data centers. You will play a key role in ensuring proper installation and physical connectivity, contributing to sustainable solutions, while adhering to safety and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Install and maintain low voltage and communications cabling systems.
- Rack and stack equipment, ensuring effective cable management.
- Clean connections and perform troubleshooting for fiber and copper.
- Follow established Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change MOP guidelines.
- Utilize work ticket systems for effective infrastructure management.
- Read and interpret port maps while conducting basic troubleshooting.
- Manage power distribution and cable organization within the infrastructure.
- Coordinate with team members for efficient completion of projects and work orders.
- Adhere to company procedures and safety protocols, providing important updates to management.
- Document work activities both in writing and electronically as per company standards.
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Respond to emergencies, including outside of regular hours, to resolve client issues and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Refer complex technical issues to senior team members when needed.
- Conduct Service Swaps of live networking devices smoothly.
TEAMWORK :
Engage in meetings, workshops, and training to enhance job performance.Collaborate with colleagues to meet performance objectives set by leadership.Fill in for the Lead Field Technician temporarily, as required.Propose improvements to processes for better efficiency and service quality.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
Associate degree or certification in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.Proven experience in installing and maintaining low voltage cabling systems.Skilled in terminating and testing low voltage cables.Knowledge of industry standards such as BICSI, ANSI, and EIA / TIA.Holding industry certifications (e.g., BICSI TECH, Corning TS-LAN500) is a plus.Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills.Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.Good vision at various distances and ability to adjust focus.Three-dimensional vision and spatial awareness.Ability to identify colors and communicate effectively.Regular responsibilities include sitting, using hands and fingers, and reaching.Frequent standing and walking, with occasional climbing and bending.The EOS pay range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 USD. Your compensation will depend on factors including job responsibilities, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data.
