Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Small Cell Construction to oversee and manage the daily field and administrative operations of small cell network builds within the Charlotte or Apex, NC regions. This role focuses on the construction and delivery of small cell and fiber node infrastructure , supporting deployment, splicing, testing, and quality assurance tasks.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on field experience with small cell builds, node design interpretation, and the ability to review and understand PIM / Sweep test results. This position reports directly to the Network Construction Implementation team and works cross-functionally with Engineering, Field Operations, and external contractors.
Location : Charlotte, NC (preferred) or Apex, NC (will consider for the right candidate)
Travel : ~25% (primarily daily travel within the Charlotte and Apex regions)
Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations for small cell construction projects.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing fiber splicing, testing, and node installations.
- Review and validate splice packages provided by the Fiber Engineering team.
- Ensure work is executed to specification, on schedule, and within budget.
- Submit and manage Purchase Orders (POs), Change Management requests (CMs), and invoicing activities related to construction and splicing.
- Collaborate with vendors on work execution, invoicing issues, and splicing schedules.
- Track project milestones and provide timely reports on progress, budget, and KPIs.
- Order police or traffic control as needed for splicing or construction activities.
- Understand and enforce small cell design standards, closeout requirements, and quality control.
- Provide support for ad-hoc reporting and administrative tasks as needed.
- Monitor compliance with safety and construction guidelines.
Qualifications
Required :
Minimum 3 years of hands-on small cell or wireless construction experienceStrong understanding of small cell node designs and construction processesAbility to read and interpret PIM / Sweep testing resultsExperience working with fiber splicing packages and documentationProficient in managing construction financials : POs, invoicing, forecastingAbility to work both independently and within a collaborative team environmentExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailValid Driver's License and willingness to travel locally (~25%)Preferred :
