Summary
Fusion HCR is seeking a Workday Release Manager to own the end-to-end release process for all Workday modules. This senior-level role will act as a team of one, independently coordinating with vendors, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure successful upgrades. With two major releases each year, the Release Manager will build repeatable processes, testing frameworks, and communication plans that minimize disruption while maximizing value. This role requires a confident, independent professional who understands Workday deeply and can guide the organization through release cycles across HCM, Payroll, Finance, and other verticals.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the end-to-end Workday release cycle (twice per year), including planning, testing, deployment, and post-release stabilization.
- Coordinate across vendors, IT, HR, Payroll, Finance, and other business units to ensure alignment and readiness.
- Develop and manage test scripts, testing plans, and defect resolution processes to ensure release quality.
- Build repeatable and scalable release management processes for future cycles.
- Communicate release timelines, impacts, and readiness to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Serve as the single point of contact for Workday releases, ensuring issues are addressed quickly and proactively.
- Maintain compliance with governance, security, and audit standards (SOX, GDPR, internal IT policies).
- Continuously improve release management processes by adopting best practices, automation tools, and stronger stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
5+ years of Workday experience with a strong understanding of Workday's release cycle and system updates.Proven experience in coordinating release management across multiple Workday modules (HCM, Payroll, Finance, etc.).Hands-on experience building testing processes, test scripts, and quality assurance frameworks.Demonstrated ability to work as a team of one, independently driving results with minimal oversight.Strong vendor management and cross-functional communication skills.Confident presenting to and coordinating with senior leadership and C-Suite stakeholders.Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, HRIS, or related field preferred.
