The successful applicant must be willing to travel when necessary. This position requires a security background check, including fingerprints, and a driving record review as a condition of employment. Employment salary starts at $52,530.00 plus $1,248.00 Competitive Area Differential (CAD). Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.

Responsible for investigating complex insurance cases involving alleged violations of the Florida Insurance Code and Department Rules by licensees in the areas of property & casualty insurance, life & health insurance, bail bonds, title, viatical settlements, claims adjusting practices and activities related to unauthorized insurers and preparing investigative reports in accordance with Bureau standards and expectations.
Analyzes complaints and investigates the activities and conduct of insurance agents, adjusters, and other related entities. This includes on-site investigations review, examination, and evaluation of evidentiary documents obtained pertaining to licensees and the insurance entities they represent. Documents include but are not limited to : insurance contracts, forms, endorsements, underwriting practices, claims forms, advertising, premium handling, claims handling procedures, sales practices, licensing requirements, record keeping methods, and other related matters.
Responsible for conducting interviews, gathering evidence, taking affidavits, interpreting statutes and rules, and writing comprehensive reports for the purpose of initiating disciplinary action or prosecution by the Department against licensees. Interacts with appropriate agencies, divisions, attorneys, law enforcement, and state attorneys when necessary. Provides testimony regarding questionable insurance transactions and activities at hearings and trials when necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to : Analyzing complaints and investigative reports concerning insurance agents, adjusters and other related entities; Maintaining work files, proper usage of state-issued equipment and preparing related reports according to Bureau and Department procedures and rules; Communicating with insurance licensees, the public, insurance company representatives, or other insurance regulators; Participating in training, workshops, conferences and study groups to keep abreast of statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, relating to insurance contracts, solicitation, claims handling, and other insurance related transactions. Interacts with other governmental agencies and personnel to secure and share regulatory information regarding the investigation of the activities and conduct of insurance producers and related entities. Works cooperatively with management and other investigators in the division to handle large or complex cases and to provide cross training opportunities for investigators or to mentor new investigators. Provides constructive feedback to other team members to promote team effectiveness and efficiency in producing timely and sufficient investigative reports of insurance licensees. Performs related duties as required.
