Senior Software Engineer, Global Payment Solutions

As a Senior Software Engineer at Capital One, you'll play a crucial role in a significant transformation within our organization.

Your Responsibilities :

Collaborate with Sr. Product Owner(s) to shape product vision and align technology strategies.

Lead the design process for innovative applications.

Mentor fellow engineers in establishing product quality strategies that encompass nonfunctional requirements including reliability, availability, and security.

Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of business processes and technical architecture.

Train others in effective solution design patterns.

Engage with technology communities to share knowledge of modern technologies and best practices.

Manage a holistic design perspective of the product portfolio.

Create and document solutions that align with business objectives.

Conduct analyses on feasibility, product comparisons, capability mapping, and high-level project estimates.

Implement architectural development processes that meet organizational requirements.

Generate requirements and architectural specifications for both new and existing systems.

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree.

A minimum of 4 years of professional software engineering experience (excluding internships).

At least 1 year of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications :

8+ years of experience in Software Development, Software Engineering, or Technical Architecture.

Background in architecture and design for debit card transaction processing applications and banking payment networks.

Familiarity with ISO8583 message formats.

Experience in building high-performing, scalable systems that evolve with customer requirements.

Knowledge of the technology evaluation process.

Familiarity with contemporary development practices such as CI / CD, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and microservices.

Understanding of API and application integration patterns.

Salary information for this role is as follows :

McLean, VA : $193,400 - $220,700.

Riverwoods, IL : $175,800 - $200,700.

Compensation may include performance-based incentives, such as cash bonuses and long-term incentives.
