DISHS is a small, rural secondary school serving approximately 110 students from 9th through 12th grade. Located in Deer Isle, Maine, this is a beautiful coastal community, just east of Penobscot Bay along the Eggemoggin Reach. In our work and in our personal lives, we are fortunate to take advantage of the picturesque beaches, trails and historical landmarks on the island.

We prioritize social and emotional development of students by fostering positive relationship building and are working to create a school culture that balances empathy and accountability. The classroom experience is designed to inspire engagement, ensure growth and promote social and academic learning. We have extensive nature trails, an active garden / greenhouse program, a vibrant after school program, and a state of the art performing arts center. We are looking for someone to join a dynamic team and make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

The Math Interventionist will play a pivotal role in bolstering our students' success in mathematics by providing opportunities both individually and in the classroom for high school students. This position will provide reinforcement and remediation of students' learning through effective, engaging instruction and hands-on, real-life practical applications.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with math colleagues and other content area teachers.
• Help create and implement new course curriculum to meet learner needs.
• Work individually with students as needed.
• Grading and reporting on student progress.
• Participation in IEP and 504 team meetings, implementation of accommodations in the classroom and support settings.
• Be a member of the Math4ME leadership team.
• Attend staff meetings and PLCs.
• Learn and implement whole school practices such as Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, etc.
