About the Production
Brave Christian School is seeking a talented and experienced Musical Director for our upcoming production of Matilda. This is a Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical based on Roald Dahl’s classic children's novel about Matilda Wormwood, a gifted girl with extraordinary intelligence who stands up to her neglectful parents and the tyrannical Trunchbull. We are looking for a collaborative, dynamic, and musically proficient leader who can inspire and guide our cast and musicians to deliver a high-caliber performance.

Position Summary
The Musical Director is a key member of the creative team, responsible for all musical aspects of the production. You will work closely with the Director and Choreographer to realize the artistic vision for the show. This is a collaborative role that requires strong communication skills and a passion for musical storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Musical Instruction : Teach all music to the cast, including solos, small group numbers, and large ensemble pieces.
Rehearsals : Lead all music rehearsals and play piano accompaniment.
Score Adaptation : Adapt, arrange, or transpose scores as needed to best suit the cast. Create vocal practice tracks and edit performance backing tracks, when needed.
Collaboration : Participate in production meetings and maintain clear and consistent communication with the creative team (Director, Choreographer, Stage Manager, Sound Designer, etc.).
Maintenance : Oversee the organization and maintenance of musical materials and equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music, Musical Theater, or equivalent professional experience.
Previous experience as a musical director for theater, preferably with youth productions or large-scale musicals.
High-level piano skills and excellent sight-reading abilities.
Experience in musical arrangement and DAW experience is a plus.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively under time pressure.
Flexible schedule for after school and evening rehearsals and performances.
