Job Summary :
Westchester Medical Center, a quaternary regional academic medical center, seeks an attending physician in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, to work in our Kingston, NY location. Westchester Medical Center is the flagship of the 10-hospital Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). The 600-bed medical center is the primary teaching affiliate for New York Medical College and serves as a regional referral and trauma center. The Department has 13 faculty covering all specialties of Ophthalmology, and is affiliated with the New York Medical College residency program in Ophthalmology.
This new hire will be working as a solo practitioner in the Northern Region of our network, with an opportunity to participate in the academic and educational opportunities of the Department. This location was previously staffed by an established and well-respected Ophthalmologist who is retiring after 30 years in practice, and maintains a robust patient base. It is in a rural area with very little competition, but is set in our brand-new Medical Village, a multi-specialty state of the art facility. Surgical cases will be performed at our well-equipped ophthalmic surgical suite at MidHudson Regional Medical Center, 30 minutes away. The office and equipment will be refurbished with an updated lane and basic equipment. Referral to Valhalla is available for patients requiring higher-level care, and telephone and telemedicine consults are available. Future plans may include expansion into a multi-physician practice based at the MidHudson location.

Qualifications / Requirements :
Applicants should have completed an Ophthalmology residency, with fellowship training welcome but not required, and be eligible to obtain a New York State license. The successful candidate should have excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to patient care.
