About The Position

Must-Have : Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, completion of basic arrhythmia course preferred

Description : Unit with 30 beds.

Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Basic arrhythmia course certification is preferred.

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5 : 1.

Electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner power chart.

Charge Nurse is available but typically does not take patients.

Nurse Aides are present unless assigned as sitters, with a ratio of 1 : 8 to 1 : 36 based on staffing.

Every other weekend is required.

Holidays will be rotated into the permanent staff schedule.

Scrub colors : RN - blue, NA - green.

No telemetry patients on this unit, but staff must be able to read strips when assigned to telemetry floor.

Nurses are expected to float to telemetry unit and must be able to adequately interpret strips.

No drips managed, but BiPAP and CPAP ventilation support is available.

Hospitalist or intensivist is in-house.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Two shift times : 0645-1915 and 1845-0715.

Nurses must be amenable to floating as needed.

Floor-specific orientation includes one hour to locate essential items, with a limited tele orientation.

Common patient diagnoses include ESRD, DM, COPD, and alcohol withdrawal.

Cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.

Charting system in use is Cerner.

BSN is required for this position.

The trauma level is acute.
