Purpose
The Supervising Attorney is responsible for managing the attorneys and staff of the Alabama Division, serving mortgage lenders and servicers, banks, and other mortgage investors in the region. Responsibilities include compliance with FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and loan servicer / investor guidelines, development and management of the department P&L, and supervision of Attorneys, Managers, Supervisors, and other legal professionals involved in the judicial foreclosure process for Alabama. The role requires leveraging legal knowledge and experience to manage litigation, develop case management strategy, mitigate client exposure, ensure compliance, and actively develop existing and potential business.
Specific Duties, Activities And Responsibilities
- Attend mediations, trials, hearings, and other duties as assigned
- Ensure legal risk mitigation and cost control while remaining compliant with CFPB and OCC regulations
- Collaborate with executive management and firm leadership across departments (Bankruptcy, Litigation, Title, REO, Human Resources, Accounting, IT) to ensure operational and legal compliance
- Manage Attorneys and Paralegals
- Develop departmental policies, procedures, and goals
- Travel as needed
- Collaborate effectively with all group members
- Write articles and deliver presentations to clients and trade associations
- Participate in marketing initiatives and business development
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed
Job Requirements
JD from an accredited law schoolLicensed in AL; preferred licensed in AL, GA, and TNMinimum eight years of litigation / courtroom experience and default management (foreclosure, title, bankruptcy, evictions, REO)Active state Bar membership with ongoing licensing and CLE requirementsSubject matter expert in their fieldExperience managing employees and P&L responsibilityGeneral Competency Factors
