SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER (AT) :
Bowhead seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to support Bowhead's Advanced Technology division located in Indian Head, MD.
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability. This position requires a strong background in quality assurance processes, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of munitions development and production. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain quality assurance protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance processes and procedures for munitions development.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of munitions products to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring continuous improvement in product quality.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality-related issues, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures.
- Review and approve quality control plans, inspection reports, and test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee supplier quality management, including audits, assessments, and performance evaluations, to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
- Maintain detailed records of quality assurance activities, including inspection results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
- Train and mentor junior quality assurance staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to munitions development and quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures in all quality assurance activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.Minimum of twenty (20+) years of experience in a munitions manufacturing environment. quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role, preferably in a munitions development or defense-related industry.In-depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and best practices, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.Strong understanding of munitions development processes, materials, and testing procedures.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documentation and reporting.Physical Demand :
Frequent walking, standing, and moving between workstations in the machine shop environment.
Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment.SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS : Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
