Position description

The Department of Pathology (http : / / pathology.ucsd.edu ) at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientists.

The Center for Perinatal Discovery is primarily a collaboration between the Departments of Pathology, Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, and Pediatrics. The overarching mission of the Center is to understand the effects of maternal health on pregnancy, and the effects of pregnancy exposures and outcomes on maternal and offspring health throughout the lifespan.

The successful candidates will be a part of the Center for Perinatal Discovery and will have the opportunity to be involved in multiple collaborations across laboratories within the Center. The successful candidates will be involved in small and large collaborative projects, teaching and supervising students and postdoctoral fellows. The successful candidates will also make original and significant contributions to a research program in a discipline relevant to stem cell, reproductive, and / or perinatal biology, and participate in all aspects of laboratory research, including experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript and grant writing.

Appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

(required at time of application)

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent, an MD / PhD, or a PhD in stem cell, reproductive biology-related, or biological sciences-related fields.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with at least 2 years of experience, training, or knowledge in utilizing human stem cells or placental tissues, and a minimum of 3 first-author / co-author publications, are preferred.
