About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Field Technician III to lead on-site installation, commissioning, and optimization of advanced building automation and HVAC control systems.
In this senior-level field role, you'll be the technical go-to person - ensuring systems are installed correctly, fully functional, and integrated seamlessly across mechanical, electrical, and networked environments. You'll work directly with project teams, engineers, and facility owners to deliver reliable, energy-efficient, and high-performing control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead field installation, programming, startup, and commissioning of building automation and HVAC control systems across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects .
Configure, test, and calibrate system components such as controllers, sensors, actuators, and network devices .
Conduct detailed point-to-point checkout and validate system sequences of operation.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system and network issues to ensure reliable performance.
Review design drawings, submittals, and specifications to verify installation accuracy and code compliance.
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify design intent and resolve site challenges.
Supervise, mentor, and train junior technicians (Tech I & II) on technical processes, safety, and field standards.
Maintain accurate field documentation including redlines, commissioning reports, and daily progress logs.
Provide support during warranty and service phases to ensure optimal system performance and client satisfaction.
Adhere to all job site safety standards and organizational procedures.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or a related technical field.
Strong knowledge of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) , system networking, and HVAC equipment operation.
Proficiency with control system programming, integration, and commissioning tools.
Familiarity with leading BAS platforms such as Siemens, Tridium, KMC, Johnson Controls, Trane, or Distech .
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, control diagrams, and electrical schematics .
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client interaction skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied environments such as attics, crawlspaces, and elevated platforms.
Willingness to travel to project sites within the region.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on project needs.
