Department : PT-Photography-25

Description : The Cerritos College Photography Program is part of the Art and Design Department within the Fine Arts and Communications Division. The program offers courses in traditional and digital photography, portraiture, studio lighting, landscape, portfolio development, and more, leading to Associate Arts degrees and certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain currency with current information and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Check mailbox, voicemail, and e-mail regularly; complete required administrative tasks.
  • Maintain student confidentiality as required by regulation and Board Policy 5040.
  • Teach all assigned classes as scheduled, and provide continuity of course content in case of absence.
  • Teach courses in accordance with the course outlines of record; provide opportunities for students to monitor progress.
  • Submit syllabi, maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress, and meet published deadlines for reporting and grades.
  • Submit required information about first-day / no-show students, textbook orders, and accessibility needs; ensure textbooks are available to students, including those with disabilities.
  • Ensure final examinations are given at scheduled times and maintain copies of corrected final exam papers for at least one year after the term.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment in classrooms and instructional spaces; be available for review of assignments upon request.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Master’s in photography, fine arts, or art OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in art history or humanities or the equivalent.

Experience : Understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of a diverse student population and campus community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in UC, Cal State, and / or Community College in both analog and digital photography.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence in photography.
  • Experience creating photographic book publications.
  • Darkroom experience.
  • Supplemental Information

  • Physical Demands : Requires ambulatory ability, hand-eye coordination, dexterity, visual and auditory abilities, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.
  • Conditions of Employment : Assignments are contingent upon funding and enrollment; may include day, evening, and / or weekend classes. Fingerprinting and TB test clearance may be required prior to employment. Faculty must be able to teach on-campus or remotely as assigned.
  • Residency and work eligibility : Candidates must provide proof of California residency prior to employment. The District requires proof of eligibility to work in the United States and a signed loyalty oath. The District notes that immigration sponsorships (e.g., H1B) are not provided.
