PCU Registered Nurse Job Details Location : Puyallup, WA 98372 (Washington nursing jobs)
Facility : Level III Trauma Center, 375 licensed beds
Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – 40 private beds
Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM), every other weekend rotation
Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed
Contract Duration : 16 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 3 / 7 / 2026)

PCU RN Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Washington RN license preferred for local candidates)
Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (1.5 years overall RN experience preferred)
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Proven skills in telemetry, trach care, CIWA, BiPAP, central line maintenance, tube / drain management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
Traveler Telemetry Competency (must be completed and passed prior to start)
EPIC charting experience preferred

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, post-surgical complications, oncology, diabetic / renal complications, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and comfort care needs
Continuous telemetry monitoring for all patients in the PCU
Administer and monitor medications including Cardizem, heparin, insulin (non-DKA), nitroglycerin, Lasix, Dilaudid, and others
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team : charge / resource nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, OT / PT / ST, phlebotomy, and IV / VAT teams
Float as needed to ICU (PCU-level patients), CCU, Observation, ED Holding, and overflow units
Participate in hospital and unit orientation, including safe patient handling and glucose training
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC and other hospital systems
