Position Overview
Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children in a special education program.
Qualifications
- Experience working with emotionally / behaviorally disabled students in school, mental health, or hospital settings preferred.
- Knowledge of child development concepts and practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card required.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (offered at the district).
- First Aid and CPR certification (offered at the district).
Responsibilities
Work intensively with students who have difficulty functioning effectively in the classroom, addressing behavioral / emotional issues.Use reality-based problem solving techniques with students.Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.Maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.Assist in developing and implementing educational programs for behaviorally / emotionally and academically challenged students.Support teachers by interacting with students exhibiting disruptive or emotional behaviors.Prepare and maintain logs, reports, and files.Escort children to various locations on campus as needed.Facilitate communication between students and teachers.Follow district policies and procedures promptly and appropriately.Perform other duties as assigned.Details
Calendar : 10 months; 35 hours / week.
Salary Range : Classified Salary Schedule / Per Year. Salary schedule pending board approval in February 2025.
