About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

License : Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN certified
Must-Have : Must be able to circulate and recover. Scrubbing experience is desired.
Description :
Perform patient assessment according to hospital and unit policy.
Conduct an initial assessment appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation or diagnosis.
Consider the care setting, age, development level, and cultural and religious orientation in a timely manner.
Assess physical needs, including pain, skin breakdown, and risk for falls.
Evaluate psychological needs, such as cognitive and communicative skills.
Assess social status and other patient needs.
Identify and prioritize the need for further assessment based on the patient's clinical presentation and desire for care.
Initiate discharge planning for each patient upon admission, as appropriate.
Develop a Patient Plan of Care that is individualized based on assessment of needs.
Incorporate input from the patient, family, and other multidisciplinary health care team members.
Include a plan for discharge or transfer.
Identify nursing diagnoses relevant to assessment findings.
Specify interventions for each nursing diagnosis that cater to identified patient needs.
Perform interventions identified for each nursing diagnosis as outlined in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.
Demonstrate effective communication of patient care needs to all members of the healthcare team.
Conduct patient and family education that is age-appropriate and tailored to learning needs and readiness to learn.
Include family and significant others in education when appropriate.
Document nursing intervention and patient teaching on designated forms.
Evaluate and document the patient’s response to the Plan of Care and to interventions.
Revise and update the Plan of Care based on documentation.
Account for own conduct and independent decisions made during job performance.
Participate in unit activities designed for service improvement.
Act as a preceptor for new healthcare team members and student nurses when asked.
Effectively delegate tasks to appropriate healthcare team members.
Provide input for policy and procedure development.
Demonstrate sound judgment and effective decision-making in following the nursing process.
Triage and prioritize multiple patient interventions.
Adjust priorities based on new assessment data.
Identify necessary supplies, equipment, and personnel to complete assignments.
Analyze collected data, weigh alternatives, and act appropriately.
Facilitate systems and processes in response to situations that may negatively impact patient outcomes.
