Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a MICU RN with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience, an active NM or compact RN license, and ACLS and BLS certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a Medical ICU (MICU) setting within a Level I Trauma and teaching hospitalPatient ratio is generally 1 : 2 for critical care patientsCare for complex cases using advanced specialty equipment such as ventilators, CRRT, ECMO, Impella, IABP, arterial lines, central venous access, pulmonary artery catheters, flotrack, transvenous pacers, Minnesota tubes, cooling devices, and vasoactive dripsMay be floated to other ICU areas, Progressive Care Units (PCU), the Emergency Department (ED) to care for admitted patients, or PACUUses Cerner electronic medical record systemDay shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (7 : 00 – 19 : 30); weekend shifts required based on unit needs36- or 48-hour contract options availableResponsibilities include managing critically ill patients, titrating vasoactive drips, and operating advanced ICU equipmentNo on-call required; floating to related units within scope as neededScrub color requirement is blackFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyTime off greater than 7 days requires approval; no time off can be taken during the first or last 7 days of the assignmentTravelers can work up to 12 consecutive months before needing a breakMust not have been a permanent employee within the health system unless there has been a break in service of at least 12 monthsHoliday time off may be limited to one 'holiday bundle' per contractRequirements
