Lead Diesel Technician

This role is pivotal in ensuring that our fleet of waste collection and recycling vehicles operates efficiently, safely, and reliably. The candidate will lead a team of technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and equipment, contributing directly to the smooth operation of our services across the community. Oversee and participate in the maintenance and repair of diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks. Conduct routine and emergency repairs while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and operational standards. Lead, train, and mentor junior technicians, enhancing team skills and cohesion. Manage maintenance schedules and logs, ensuring accurate records of all service activities. Collaborate with the fleet management team to optimize maintenance procedures and reduce vehicle downtime. Stay abreast of new technologies in diesel engine mechanics and implement best practices in workplace procedures. In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and systems. Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment and tools relevant to diesel mechanics. Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a technical team. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
