Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Position Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients of all ages, from neonate through geriatric, in accordance with current nursing knowledge and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards of practice. The RN uses the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes. This position may require scheduled on-call assignments based on community events and emergency department patient volumes.

Essential Functions

Triage all patients entering the emergency care system and determine care priorities based on physical, psychological, and situational factors.

Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on ongoing assessments.

Manage all types of emergencies and complications according to hospital policies and ENA standards.

Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans prior to initiation.
