Job Description
The Oracle OCI team is seeking a passionate Data Center Design Specialist ready to innovate and excel in the cloud marketplace. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our data center development team and Oracle vendors to enhance and maintain our cloud infrastructure. You will evaluate the reliability of materials and techniques used in production while planning and developing essential components for data center systems. Your key responsibilities will include :
Designing the data center white space, encompassing rack layout, hot / cold containment, network infrastructure, power distribution, and cable pathways.
Partnering with colocation providers and internal teams to establish project design criteria and developing the Basis of Design.
Coordinating with internal stakeholders to define requirements and ensuring compliance with colocation providers.
Contributing to the creation of OCI data center facilities requirements documentation.
Exploring new designs, materials, and construction methods for data center equipment and components.
Maintaining comprehensive site documentation, including floor plans and rack elevations.
Reviewing RFI, RFP, and RFQ submissions.
Assisting in developing global data center infrastructure standards.
Traveling to data centers for engineering analyses.
Meeting critical project deadlines.
Engaging in project coordination meetings while effectively communicating any updates to schedules.
Desired Skills
A minimum of 5 years of experience in critical data center environments.
Proficiency in creating technical drawings using AutoCad and Visio.
Strong capability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively.
Expertise in data center infrastructure, particularly electrical and mechanical systems.
Experience in vendor management.
Knowledge of cabling infrastructure best practices.
Understanding of industrial / commercial electrical one lines.
Familiarity with BMS / EPMS control systems and data collection.
Experience in developing MOPs / SOPs / EOPs for systems operations.
Knowledge of Data Center PUE metrics.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building documentation.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in unique situations.
