Med Surg Technician

POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides patient care under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. Competently performs exercise stress testing, electrocardiograms (EKG), Holter application and scanning, and properly edits EKG reports. Complies with University Health System and departmental policies and procedures.  Demonstrates and encourages positive patient / guest relations

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma, its equivalent, or higher degree is required. Must have a minimum of three months previous hospital or medical-surgical clinic experience as a military corpsman, nursing attendant, medical assistant or be a graduate nurse waiting to retake the NCLEX examination. Six months experience performing EKGs in an acute care hospital is required. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card
