NICU Nurse Coordinator

Job Summary
The NICU Nurse Coordinator plays a key role in implementing best practice models and patient care delivery systems. They collaborate with healthcare team members, investigate patient and family concerns, and ensure safe and optimal patient care. This position involves supervising the use of resources, equipment, and supplies, as well as maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The NICU Nurse Coordinator also provides clinical supervision, delegates tasks appropriately, and performs clinical duties as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership : Mentor team members, supervise daily activities, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Administrative and Operational Oversight : Monitor utilization and productivity, interpret data, and manage budget targets.
Care Delivery Management : Coordinate resources, supervise daily operational activities, and ensure accountability for performance.
Process Improvement : Lead cross-functional teams on projects to improve quality, service, and efficiency.
Quality and Safety Assurance : Monitor and improve clinical practices, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to systems for evaluating and improving patient care.
Qualifications
Required Skills : Strong people and management skills.
Minimum Experience :
Two years of NICU RN experience in a Level III or higher.
One year of RN or RN NICU leadership experience. Must have a formal leadership title.
Minimum Education : BSN or MSN.
Must-Have Certifications / Licenses :
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
BLS, NRP, and RNC-NIC certifications.
RNC-NIC required within 6 months from hire date.
Less Common Requirements : Experience with unions from a management perspective.
Industry Experience : NICU experience in an acute care hospital.
