Job Description :
The metrology engineer serves as the technical SME for all instrumentation related questions, deviations, or enhancement. Solely responsible for managing the instrument database for assigned areas, which includes the addition, remove, and identification of functionally equivalent replacements for production areas, building utilities, labs, and assigned projects. Work collaboratively to complete assignments and oversees the successful completion of tasks. Using solid analytical skills, they must be able to recognize problems of moderate scope / complexity. Develop solutions and courses of action.
Instrument Database Management
- Creates and controls changes of instrument records and works with approvers for timely processing
- Assures accuracy of data
- Defines and creates guidelines for inputs and general content
- Completes review of calibrations in timely manner
- Identifies areas for data management process improvements which increases efficiencies and / or improves quality of data.
Technical Analysis :
Leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts for instrumentationLeads risk management efforts for instrumentationAssures collection of proper data to support failure analysisCommunicates frequently with deviation investigators and end usersEvaluate instrument and system costs long term including analysis of installation maintenance costs against the cost of possible failuresPerforms instrument life-cycle assessments.Parts / Instruments Availability :
Create stock quantities congruent with supporting analysisAssist reliability engineer with functional equivalent efforts for metrologyWork with stores to develop creative / economical alternatives for long lead time items that may affect site operations (stocking agreements, standardization etc.)Education / Certs / Experience :
BS in engineering or science related degree w / 3-5 years relevant expAssociates degree with 5-10 years exp or 10+ years of relevant exp.Preferable in large scale biotech or pharmaceutical industryGood understanding of current maintenance and metrology best practices and common issues addressed by MetrologyFamiliar with CMMS (procal), sap, data historian programs is a plus - not requiredExperience with specification and calibration of most of the following instruments : pressure, temperature, weight, flow, conductivity, chorine, pH, timers, and humidityExcellent comm skillsAbility to work with cross functional teams.
