Position Summary
The Tax Preparer will be responsible for preparing individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hands-on tax preparation experience, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently under deadlines, especially during the busy tax season.
The right candidate must be able to handle a high volume of returns quickly and accurately, maintaining both speed and precision throughout tax season.
This is an on-site position in our Asheville office and requires flexibility and the ability to work extended hours and occasional weekends during tax season.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and complete individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041, 990) .
- Review and verify financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax laws.
- Conduct client interviews to gather necessary tax-related information.
- Utilize TaxWise software efficiently to prepare, file, and manage returns.
- Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and strategies for clients.
- Maintain organized client files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Communicate with clients and respond to tax-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with IRS and state correspondence as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the accounting firm.
- Manage time effectively to handle a high volume of returns during tax season while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of professional tax preparation experience (individual and business returns preferred).Proficiency with TaxWise tax preparation software (preferred)Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations.Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently.Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.Professional communication and client service skills.Willingness and ability to work overtime, including some evenings and weekends, during tax season.Preferred Qualifications
PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) required; EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA license preferred.Experience working in a public accounting firm or multi-client environment.Familiarity with QuickBooks or other bookkeeping software.Additional Benefits
