An established civil engineering firm with over a century of successful projects is seeking a Civil Engineer (PE) to take a leadership role within their Clinton Township office. This position offers the autonomy and impact of a senior-level engineer leading design efforts, managing projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating directly with ownership all within a stable, family-oriented environment. Youll work with long-standing private development clients and help shape the future of a respected local firm.

Key Responsibilities :
Project & Technical Leadership
Manage all phases of civil engineering projects from initial concept through final design, permitting, and construction.Lead design efforts for grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadways.Conduct and review detailed civil design calculations, including hydrology / hydraulic studies and ADA compliance.Prepare and finalize design reports, cost estimates, due diligence studies, and construction documents.Oversee and review work produced by engineers, CAD technicians, and designers to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.Ensure every project meets quality assurance standards and adheres to schedule and budget.Proactively identify design challenges, coordinate solutions, and communicate adjustments to clients and internal teams.Client & Agency Coordination :
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and reviewing agencies.Represent the company in meetings with municipalities, boards, and commissions.Guide projects through local and state permitting processes, zoning reviews, and regulatory approvals.Develop and maintain strong relationships with repeat clients and partners to ensure long-term success and satisfaction.Team Development & Mentorship :
Lead and mentor a small in-house engineering / design team of approximately 3 staff.Coach, train, and evaluate performance of junior engineers and technicians.Promote a collaborative and accountable work environment where team members take ownership of their work.Provide technical guidance, establish design standards, and support professional growth across the team.Business & Strategic Involvement :
Work directly with ownership on project scheduling, workload forecasting, and staffing needs.Participate in proposal preparation, client presentations, and project budgeting.Support firmwide initiatives related to process improvement, quality control, and client engagement.Contribute to the continued growth of the engineering practice with the potential for future ownership opportunities.What Were Looking For :
Active Michigan PE license (required)5+ years of professional experience in civil site design and project management (10+ preferred)Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldStrong technical proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft OfficeSolid understanding of site development standards, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure designDemonstrated ability to lead design teams and manage multiple projects concurrentlyExcellent communication and organizational skillsKnowledge of local zoning codes, permitting, and regulatory processesCompensation & Benefits :
