JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
This is a technical surveillance position within the Surveillance Unit of Area 7 HIV / AIDS Program. The incumbent is responsible for working with sensitive data, providing technical and monitoring assistance and coordination in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. This position reports directly to the Operations & Mgmt. Consultant II - SES and is responsible for the following HIV / AIDS Surveillance activities :
Performs medical record reviews at all relevant facilities, including physician's offices, hospitals, public and private outpatient facilities, nursing homes, medical examiners offices, correction facilities and other locations as deemed necessary. Conducts regular onsite and telephone contact with official individuals responsible for HIV / AIDS case reporting from facilities, agencies or County Health Departments (CHD) to ensure prompt and accurate case reporting. Maintains confidentiality and security of client information 100% of the time in all aspects of work- and work-related activities, case reports and associated data and release of data and information in accordance with established protocols. Prepares necessary reports, case report updates and quarterly activity summaries.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with CHD personnel, official agencies, physicians, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, hospital staff and all other social service agencies and / or organizations and groups associated with HIV / AIDS who impact HIV / AIDS case reporting. Respond to all requests for information and data within three (3) working days and provide training and technical assistance as requested and / or required.
Conduct special epidemiologic investigations upon request.
Perform other duties as assigned.
