Overview

We are partnering with a purpose-driven renewable energy company seeking a NetSuite Functional Lead to join its growing digital and finance systems team. Based in either Durham, NC or Washington, DC, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to own the functional roadmap for NetSuite and related financial applications, partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and cross-functional stakeholders. The Functional Lead will drive adoption, optimize processes, and ensure system capabilities align with business needs while maintaining compliance and scalability.

This position is ideal for a seasoned NetSuite professional with strong finance and accounting knowledge who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys leading system improvements and training initiatives. With exposure to digital transformation and integration projects, this role offers significant visibility and the chance to make an impact across the business.

Salary : $100,000 – $140,000 (depending on experience) + bonus target + full benefits (medical / dental / vision / 401k match + more)

Location : Hybrid (3 days onsite) in Durham, NC or Washington, DC

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional lead and primary owner of NetSuite, overseeing workflows, approvals, reporting, and configurations to support finance and accounting operations.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and business teams to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and improve processes.
  • Lead training, onboarding, documentation, and change management efforts to increase user adoption and efficiency.
  • Support critical finance cycles such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, month-end / quarter-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements by embedding controls within NetSuite processes.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Lead to prioritize enhancements, manage testing / UAT, and resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and enhance data visibility and reporting.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for audits and support the integration of additional financial tools into the NetSuite ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on NetSuite functional experience, including configuration, workflows, reporting, and permissions.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting processes (AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, project accounting, procurement, consolidations, and close cycles).
  • Demonstrated experience gathering business requirements and delivering system solutions in support of Finance / Accounting operations.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to translate business needs into functional solutions.
  • Proven success in leading user training, documentation, and system adoption.
  • Familiarity with tools such as NetSuite Planning & Budgeting (NSPB), Avalara, FloQast, Rillion, and Oracle FCCS preferred.
  • Experience in multi-entity or fast-scaling environments, ERP implementations, or system integrations a plus.
