JOB SUMMARY
Telemetry Technician : NTMC will provide 3-6 weeks on the job training for this position. Experienced technician is preferred. A Telemetry Technician monitors cardiac rhythms via telemetry monitors. Prepares and compiles telemetry records for the multi-disciplinary team. Effectively communicates with nursing staff to provide safe patient care.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Reflects knowledge and good judgment in decisions and actions within the role of Telemetry Technician
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart in relation to waves, complexes, time and voltage shown through the conduction system and strip interpretation
- Demonstrates competency in interpreting dysrhythmias
- Maintains awareness of patient location and condition of patient’s telemetric patterns
- Runs and posts rhythm strips at the specified times each shift, alerting charge nurses or primary care nurse to any abnormal rhythms or changes in vital signs
- Interacts with co-workers, other hospital, staff and the general public in a professional and respectful manner
- Answers the telephone in a timely and polite manner
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
- Participates in conferences involving the care of patients as needed
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Manager

High School diploma or the equivalent (GED)Telemetry Certification or previous Telemetry ExperienceLANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingAdditional languages are a plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs.Required to sit for long periods.Ability to push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, twist, and reach above shoulder level.Vision and hearing skills must be corrected to near normal range.
