Job descriptionThe staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame. Provides care via the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the institution's philosophy. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care in EPIC. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements and modifies plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents. Communicates effectively to resolve issues and offers constructive feedback for professional development. Identifies own learning needs and fulfills departmental competencies. Department specific functions include patient assessment, recognizing normal and abnormal findings, notifying physicians, establishing plan of care and goals, establishing IV on patients over 8 years old, practicing 5 rights for medication administration, and participating in time out process with OR RN. Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience. ASN required; BSN preferred. Illinois state RN License in good standing required. BLS (American Heart Association) certification required. Contract length is 13 weeks. Unit is Operating Room Surgical Center. Responsibilities include participation in time out process with OR RN. Establish IV on patients over 8 years old. Practice 5 rights for medication administration. Preferred education is BSN. Preferred skills and experience not specified.
