American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Prescott, Arizona.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with at least 2 years of Med / Surg Tele experience and an active AZ or compact state license for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 48-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit focusing on surgical, neuro, and general medical patients
  • Common patient diagnoses include COVID, respiratory illnesses, GI, diabetes, tele, TIA, CVA, and post-surgical cases including orthopedic and spinal procedures
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 5
  • RN must interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift
  • Respiratory equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow oxygen, and other breathing treatments
  • 12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Every other weekend required; holidays required as assigned (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving)
  • Self-scheduling is utilized but finalized by the manager
  • RNs are first to float and may float to East Campus or PCU if qualified
  • Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientation
  • RN is responsible for interpreting and documenting telemetry strips each shift
  • Support staff includes charge nurse (non-assigned) and nurse aides (ratio 1 : 10-15)
  • Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift
  • Dress code is navy blue scrubs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Holiday coverage is required as part of the standard schedule
  • Not eligible if employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

    • Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience required
  • Experience with reading basic telemetry strips and care of general, orthopedic, CVA, and TIA patients required
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years
  • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
  • Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique test (Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes) prior to or during orientation
