Overview
Lead perioperative services at a 130+ bed community hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, serving the region since 2010 as part of Virginia's most comprehensive healthcare network. This PACU Manager role assumes 24-hour responsibility for supervising and directing same-day surgery, pre-admission testing, PACU, and endoscopy departments across 4 operating rooms with 12 pre-op bays. The facility offers comprehensive services including 24-hour emergency care, advanced-technology operating rooms, cancer care center, advanced imaging, heart and vascular care, obstetrics and neonatal care, intensive care, and psychiatric services. Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of pre and post-surgery departments including Preop, PAT, PACU, and Endoscopy schedules, staffing, productivity, and premium labor monitoring.
- Maintain flow of surgical schedule using staff, equipment, and supplies appropriately to ensure efficient patient throughput.
- Maintain oversight of monthly staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels across all perioperative areas.
- Act as effective steward of resources, monitoring and improving supply management and process improvement initiatives.
- Analyze and report statistical data for perioperative service line to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
- Serve as active member of performance improvement activities and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Meet and maintain risk management best practices for surgical services ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Protect rights of patients, surgical staff, and facility by providing legal and ethical healthcare exhibiting ethical conduct and clear understanding of legal guidelines.
- Assume responsibility for maintaining high level of clinical expertise while adapting to new information, technology, and changing trends in perioperative nursing practice.
- Maintain and develop effective interdepartmental relationships to support seamless care coordination.
- Own environment of care standards and updates for surgery departments ensuring Joint Commission and CMS compliance.
- Participate in staff development, competency evaluation, performance reviews, and counseling to support professional growth.
- Provide clinical leadership for pre-operative and post-operative patients undergoing anesthesia, surgery, and procedures.
- Manage human resources functions including staffing and evaluations in conjunction with financial management responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required :
Graduate from accredited school of nursingCurrent Virginia RN license in good standingMinimum 2 years of recent department-specific experience in perioperative services (PACU, Pre-op, PAT, or Endoscopy)BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association or CPR - American Red Cross - currentStrong clinical expertise in perioperative nursing and post-anesthesia careExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAvailability for Monday-Friday days with no weekend requirementsPreferred :
