Data Scientist

Department : Engineering

Employment Type : Full Time

Location : San Francisco / Remote (USA)

Description

We're looking for a Data Scientist to join Recentive's core data science team. In this role, you'll design and deploy analytical solutions that power decision-making for some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment, and broadcast. You'll collaborate closely with our data, product, and engineering teams to develop scalable models that solve complex, high-impact business problems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building Creative Analytical Solutions : Develop and deploy models and decision tools that combine analytics, optimization, and business insight; balancing sophistication, performance, and practical constraints.
  • Collaborating Across Teams : Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to frame complex business problems as analytical and engineering problems, and drive both execution and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Designing Data Pipelines & Workflows : Build robust data workflows and modeling pipelines using tools like Python, SQL, DBT, and Snowflake.

What We're Looking For

  • Python Expertise : 5+ years developing and deploying production-ready Python-based analytics solutions across a range of problem types.
  • SQL Expertise : 5+ years writing and optimizing SQL queries for analytical platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Forecasting & Demand Modeling Experience : Experience designing forecast and demand models that handle real-world data with diverse historical data conditions, including gaps, bias, and structural shifts.
  • End-to-End Project Leadership : Comfortable defining problems, validating solutions, and collaborating on integration and deployment.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills : Strong first-principles thinker with a pragmatic, data-driven approach to experimentation and refinement.
  • Analytics Engineering Experience : Skilled at transforming raw or messy data into structured, analysis-ready datasets using best practices in analytics engineering.
  • Right Tools for the Job : Able to assess when machine learning, heuristics, or analytical models are appropriate and avoid overengineering in favor of effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Client Empathy : Strong communicator who can translate domain intuition into technical models and work with external partners to clarify, validate, and iterate on solutions.
  • Why Work at Recentive

  • Impactful Work : Our technology and products directly shape operational strategies at leading sports teams and leagues, broadcasters, and other key players in the live events ecosystem.
  • Forward Thinking : Design and build forward-thinking analytical solutions that blend creativity and engineering-leveraging advanced algorithms, optimization, and machine learning to solve complex, real-world challenges.
  • Collaborative Culture : We're a growing, tight-knit data-centered team that values knowledge-sharing, learning, and innovation.
  • Growth & Ownership : Shape your career as a technical leader while helping build next-generation analytical tools from the ground up.
  • Just Getting Started : We've accomplished a lot but we're just in the early innings of where we'll go. Our new west‑coast office in SF is a testament to that growth and will serve as a hub for our growing team.
