The Senior Supplier Development Engineer supports New Hudson Facades by leading and conducting quality systems, processes, and product audits as well as being an available resource and liaison between the NHF engineering / manufacturing facility and our current and future suppliers. In doing so, NHF is equipped with the knowledge to proactively identify and mitigate supplier risks, while increasing the quality capabilities of our supplier base. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer will utilize industry knowledge and experience in support of the Quality department’s initiatives and goals through the creation and maintenance of standardized metrics that ties to Supply Chain and Factory performance.
Role and Responsibilities :
- Lead process and product on-site audits at current and prospective domestic supplier facilities.
- Qualification reporting of new vendors : In-depth review of capability and capacity of suppliers (e.g. business systems, manufacturing processes, technical knowledge, supplier performance, capacity planning, etc) to perform current or potential future work.
- Prepare and document supplier audit reports and supplier visit reports.
- Work with Supply Chain on the creation of Commodity based Purchase agreements
- Establish and maintain a system for ensuring Purchase Agreements and Suppliers are in conformance with project Specifications
- Establish and maintain a proactive vendor visit schedule, utilizing factory schedule, supply chain metrics and current vendor performance as a guideline.
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures
- Develop supplier quality plans in conjunction with the Supply Chain, Operations, Factory and Quality
- Facilitate and work with approved suppliers on the first article inspections of curtainwall components.
- Utilize knowledge of industry / regulatory standards and contractual expectations to identify nonconformances and opportunities for improvement at supplier sites.
- Provide education and mentoring on Industry quality processes and procedures; training to support improvements in supplier performance and productivity.
- Utilize technical knowledge / capability to establish and sustain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Lead the Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis efforts for NHF and its supply chain
- Work with NHF Quality Department to create Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs)
- Lead the implementation of SCARs with NHF Supply Chain Partners
- Provide training and support to the NHF factory, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities :
Multi-disciplinary knowledge of quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001 standard or similar)Knowledge of CAD, engineering drawings, and measurement tools (tape measure, caliper, etc)Knowledge and ability to read and understand project specifications and applicable industry standardsKnowledge and ability to participate in Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Excellent communication skills; attention to detail.Ability to write professional reports, business correspondence, and procedural manualsQualifications and Education Requirements :
Experience in curtainwall and / or construction industries preferred.ASQ Certification in Auditing preferred.Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.Valid US driver’s license.2 or more years of experience auditing suppliers as a primary responsibility required.4-Year degree or 5 additional years of industry experience auditing suppliers as a primary responsibility required.New Hudson Facades is an Equal Opportunity employer.
