PeaceHealth is seeking a Patient Financial Specialist - Remote for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.   Monday - Friday : 8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm PST. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $20.09 – $30.11. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Must Live in Oregon, Washington or Alaska or will do so by date of hire!

Job Summary

Works in remotely supporting onsite patient financial functions reporting to the Supervisor, PFS.Completes account management including patient follow-up, eligibility hearing attendance, and government agency follow-up, as assigned. In addition, works closely and regularly with Care Management to follow up on in-house patients whose financial situation is unclear or has changed since the time of admission.

Essential Functions

• Screens patients and processes Financial Assistance Applications by verifying eligibility per PeaceHealth policy and in accordance with the Federal Poverty Level. Make manual adjustments to patient accounts in accordance with Financial Assistance Approvals.
• Communicates with patients via phone, email, MyPeaceHealth, and letters to respond to inquiries or obtain required documents for PeaceHealth’s Financial Assistance Program.
• Develops strong working relationships with representatives from government agencies, including state aid workers, to ensure speedy resolution of cases pending approval and provide any needed documentation to the agency representatives.
• Assist patients with the application process for outreach programs and our obligations to maintain certifications as required by the state(s) and / or contractual obligations. Follow up on all applications and missing information for any program and pursues resolution of pending cases.
• Performs patient outreach to complete any required paperwork or documentation for application or financial assistance. Gathers initial information and submits application to the appropriate program.
• Performs data entry and document all calls. Assists patients with financial assistance and related application and program inquiries by telephone and through written correspondence. Completes adjustments, account notes, and other necessary transaction to facilitate appropriate computer system activity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
