Financial Aid Advisor
The Financial Aid Advisor performs a variety of tasks in the processing of student aid applications. This position advises students of opportunities; reviews, researches and resolves discrepancies and utilizes various programs and software to process applications and files. This position works closely with the Foundation and Financial Services to perform scholarship maintenance activities.
Responsibilities include :
- Providing excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email
- Providing information to students regarding financial aid programs, eligibility requirements and application processes; interpreting and explaining the Colleges financial aid policies and procedures to students, parents and the general public
- Sending correspondence to students regarding incomplete or missing information in their files
- Processing student aid applications electronically; verifying, submitting corrections and packaging financial aid awards
- Completing verifications, resolving comment-codes, obtaining documents and making necessary corrections in ISIRs in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Overseeing the import process of ISIRs ensuring accuracy and proper budget / COA calculation, assigning student files to financial aid advisor for awarding
- Signing off on student withdrawal forms and advising students of the impact on financial aid
- Ensuring compliance with all Title IV regulations regarding aid eligibility
- Assisting with coordination of the Federal Work Study Program; maintaining applications and assisting students with HR paperwork; meeting with supervisor of the position to describe program expectations
- Developing and maintaining spreadsheets to track hours used / worked and payments to work study students
- Assisting with coordination of Workforce Pell; processing applications and awards paid amounts in Colleague according to regulations
- Awarding paid amounts in the Colleague system and ensuring work study students are meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Administering scholarship programs including the selection and awarding of assigned scholarships
- Maintaining and tracking appeals of Satisfactory Academic Progress for the SAP Committee
- Administering the Childcare Program including receiving applications and awarding funds
- Maintaining the Childcare Program budget within regulations and compliance
- Reviewing reports to ensure student compliance with course curricular requirements related to financial aid
- Assisting with Financial Aid presentations in the community and on campus
- Participating in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications :
Associate's Degree in business administration, accounting or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learningTwo (2) years' full-time administrative work experience in a professional environmentPreferred : Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learningCommunity college experience in student financial aid programsColleague experienceKnowledge :
