ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide medical and psychiatric nursing assessment of youth being admitted to the Youth Crisis and Recovery Center.
- Provide concise, thorough documentation of all interactions with youth and families, or interactions with other providers on the youth’s behalf in the agency’s electronic health record.
- Maintain medication administration record and ensure accuracy of staff administering medication.
- Ensure medications are organized and stored securely.
- Communicate effectively with parent / guardians, clinicians within the agency, YCRC staff, as well as referral sources, primary care providers, school officials and others involved in the care of our clients.
- Assess the psychiatric and medical nursing needs of the Youth Crisis and Recovery program.
- Maintain the Heartstart Defibrillator and associated supplies and assist in education / protocols for its use.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Licensure :
Licensed as RN or LPN with mental health, psychiatric and substance use treatment experience preferred.Knowledgeable about child and youth mental health, psychiatric, social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.Must successfully pass the KBI, DCF Central Registry and all background investigations.Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.Experience :
Must have 1+ years’ experience working with psychiatric populations.Familiarity with psychotropic medications is required.Experience with child and adolescents preferred.Must successfully complete all applicable background checks.Must have sufficient ambulatory capabilities to work with children / youth in the office.Ability to effectively engage with youth exhibiting verbal and / or physical aggression.Must exhibit satisfactory verbal and written communication skills.Must coordinate schedule with coworkers, so that the nursing office is never left uncovered.Must be able to maintain effective operation of the nursing office.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
